When the votes split evenly
Two names finish level, and the host does not move on, because a tie has a procedure of its own. Everybody who tied gets another thirty seconds, taken in the order they were nominated, and then the table votes again — but this time only between the players who tied.
So picture seat four and seat nine finishing level. Both speak again and both are voted on again. If the room settles on one of them, that player leaves and the day is over. And if the very same two names tie a second time, the day ends in a different way altogether — that is the whole of the next lesson.
Beginners lose the tie inside those thirty seconds, because the second speech catches them by surprise. They repeat what the room has already heard, and a repeated speech gives nobody a reason to move, so the second vote lands exactly where the first one did.
That is why you decide what those seconds carry before the hands go up. Name the one difference between you and the player tied against you, taken from today, since separating the two of you is the only question the room is still answering.
